To ensure your custom costume, helmet, or armor fits you perfectly, please follow this guide when filling out your Jtokucostume Unit Measurement Chart.
Important Preparation Rules
- All Measurements in Centimeters (cm): Please submit all measurements strictly in centimeters (cm).
- Use a Soft Measuring Tape: Use a flexible cloth or vinyl tailor’s tape measure. Do not use rigid metal contractor tapes.
- Get Help: Asking someone else to measure you will provide more accurate results.
- Measure Naturally: Stand upright in a relaxed posture. Do not pull the measuring tape too tight or hold your breath.
- Wear Fitted Clothing (Recommended): For the best results, we recommend wearing thin, form-fitting clothes (such as a compression suit, undershirt, or leggings) and the footwear/socks you plan to wear with your cosplay. If fitted clothes aren’t available, wear thin, lightweight garments to ensure accurate measurements
How Our Sizing Process Works
Once your custom order or commission deposit is confirmed, our team will send you the official Jtokucostume Unit Measurement Chart.
This chart includes visual diagrams with numbered and color-coded guide lines (for head, torso, limbs, and footwear) to show you exactly where each measurement should be taken.
Please follow the guidelines below when taking your measurements and filling out the chart.
General Measuring Techniques & Proportion Checks
- Tape Placement and Tension
- Keep the measuring tape flat against your skin or thin clothing without twisting it.
- Pull the tape so it sits snug against your body, but not so tight that it digs into your skin or restricts natural movement.
- Horizontal Circumferences vs. Vertical Lengths
- Circumference Measurements: Always wrap the tape horizontally around the body part, keeping it parallel to the floor (such as around the head, chest, waist, hips, biceps, or calves).
- Length Measurements: Measure straight point-to-point vertical distances between key anatomical reference points indicated on the chart (e.g., shoulder bone to wrist, or waist to knee), keeping the tape flat against the body without forcing it into body curves or pulling it out into open air.
- Cross-Checking Proportions Between Body Parts
To ensure your costume or armor is crafted with maximum accuracy, please review your numbers to make sure your body proportions make logical sense relative to one another before submitting:- Circumference Comparisons: Verify that larger body parts reflect larger measurements. For example, your thigh circumference should logically be larger than your knee or ankle circumference.
- Segment Lengths: Ensure that smaller section lengths (such as elbow-to-wrist or shoulder-to-elbow) add up logically and do not exceed the total overall arm length.
- Accessibility, Adaptive Fitting & Special Body Conditions
We are proud to craft custom builds for cosplayers of all body types and abilities. If you have a physical disability, posture asymmetry, mobility equipment requirements, or a medical condition that affects how a costume or armor should fit, please inform us when submitting your form.
Knowing these details allows us to adapt the pattern, closure mechanisms, and internal padding for your utmost safety, ease of movement, and comfort. - Submitting Your Form
After filling in all required numerical values in centimeters (cm) on your Jtokucostume Unit Measurement Chart, double-check your numbers for typos before sending the completed chart back to us.
To help our tailoring and prop-making team better visualize your overall posture and body proportions, we may reach out and request full-body reference photos taken from multiple angles (front, side, and back in a neutral standing posture).
These reference images are kept strictly confidential and are used solely alongside your measurement numbers for pattern drafting, initial review verification, and assembly accuracy before production begins.
